A Heartwarming Encounter: Little Grebe Family at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
On 17th August 2025, during one of my visits to Warnham Local Nature Reserve, I was fortunate to witness a truly heartwarming moment — a Little Grebe adult gracefully gliding across the water with its tiny chicks close behind.
The calm of the reserve’s lake was broken only by their gentle ripples, the parent carefully guiding its young through the still waters. Watching these chicks, so small yet full of life and curiosity, reminded me of how many quiet wonders nature reveals when you take the time to observe. Moments like these are why I love wildlife photography — capturing these fleeting connections between parent and chick, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of Warnham.
For anyone visiting Warnham Local Nature Reserve in West Sussex, keep an eye on the ponds and reedbeds — you might just spot a Little Grebe family going about their day. It’s a perfect reminder that nature’s most touching stories often unfold right in front of us, if we pause and look closely.
