A Peaceful Morning at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

On the morning of 31st August 2025, I took some time to wander through Warnham Local Nature Reserve, enjoying the calm, late-summer air. The light was soft and warm, casting a gentle glow over the reserve and creating the perfect conditions for observing wildlife.

As I looked up, a buzzard soared effortlessly above, riding the thermals with barely a flap of its wings. Watching it glide across the sky was a serene reminder of the beauty of nature in motion. Closer to the ground, I noticed a tiny baby common frog, doing its best to remain hidden among the undergrowth. Its natural camouflage made it almost invisible, yet there it was — a small, delicate sign of life thriving in the reserve’s rich habitat.

By the water, my attention was caught by a greylag goose. Unusually pale, its grey and white feathers stood out against the typical brown tones, making it a striking sight. Each of these encounters, from the soaring buzzard to the camouflaged frog and the distinctive goose, made the morning feel truly special.

Moments like these are exactly why Warnham Local Nature Reserve remains one of my favourite places to visit. No matter how often you come, there’s always something new and unexpected to discover — a reminder that the natural world is full of surprises, if you take the time to look.
