Kingfisher in Action at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Kingfisher in Action at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

On 17th August 2025, I spent some time exploring Warnham Local Nature Reserve, one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography in West Sussex. It was a calm, sunny morning—the kind that often rewards patience and stillness with something special.

While quietly watching the water’s edge, I was lucky enough to spot a Kingfisher perched perfectly on a branch. Moments later, it darted down with lightning speed, returning triumphantly with a tadpole clasped in its beak. These are the kind of fleeting moments that make wildlife photography so rewarding—natural behaviour, unposed and beautifully wild.

The vibrant blues and oranges of the Kingfisher glowed in the morning light, offering a vivid contrast against the calm greens of the reserve. It’s always a reminder that even in familiar places like Warnham, there’s always something new to witness if you take the time to look.

If you’re planning a visit, Warnham Local Nature Reserve is a fantastic spot for photographers and birdwatchers alike, with opportunities to see everything from Kingfishers to dragonflies, herons, and seasonal waterfowl.
