Bee Wolf at Bushy Park – A Fascinating Insect Behaviour

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! On 26th July 2026, I spent some time at Bushy Park looking closely at some of the smaller wildlife that can easily be overlooked among the vegetation. One of the highlights of the visit was finding Bee Wolves, fascinating insects that are always worth taking the time to watch.

I was lucky enough to photograph them as they returned to their nest holes carrying bees back to provision their nests. Watching these insects arrive with their prey before disappearing into the nest was a fascinating behaviour to witness and photograph. It was a great opportunity to capture not just the Bee Wolf itself, but also an insight into its fascinating way of life.

Wildlife photography isn't always about finding the largest or most obvious subjects. Sometimes the most interesting encounters can be found by slowing down and looking carefully among the vegetation. The Bee Wolf was a perfect example of this, with its behaviour providing a memorable photographic opportunity.

It was another enjoyable session and a reminder that there is always plenty of fascinating wildlife to discover when you take the time to look closely. Bushy Park once again provided a great opportunity to explore the smaller side of the natural world and capture a behaviour that might otherwise easily be missed.
