Ringed Plover Feeding at Pagham Harbour

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Every visit to Pagham Harbour offers something different, and on the 21st of June 2026, I spent a rewarding morning watching one of our charming coastal waders as it searched for food along the shoreline.

The Ringed Plovers were busy feeding among the rocks and tangled seaweed, constantly on the move as they searched for tiny invertebrates left behind by the receding tide. Watching them dart from one patch of shoreline to another, stopping briefly before sprinting off again, was a reminder of just how perfectly adapted they are to life on our coast. Although small in size, they're full of character, and their quick movements make them an enjoyable challenge to photograph.

Coastal habitats like Pagham Harbour often appear quiet at first glance, but taking the time to slow down and observe reveals an incredible amount of activity. Every rock, patch of seaweed, and stretch of sand can be home to wildlife going about its daily routine. It's these simple, natural behaviours that I enjoy photographing the most, capturing moments that tell the story of the species and the habitat they depend on.

Mornings like this are a reminder that wildlife photography isn't always about rare sightings or dramatic action. Sometimes the greatest rewards come from spending time with familiar species, appreciating their behaviour, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Pagham Harbour continues to be one of my favourite places to experience and photograph the rich variety of Britain's coastal birdlife.
