Wildlife Behaviour and Flight Photography at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always a rewarding place to visit, offering a fantastic variety of wildlife and opportunities to capture everything from quiet moments to dramatic behaviour. My visit on 25th May 2026 was no exception, with plenty of activity across the reserve and some great opportunities for flight photography.

One of the highlights of the day was watching Coots chasing each other across the water. Their energetic displays created plenty of action as they raced across the lake, splashing and darting around in a burst of movement. These moments are always fascinating to capture, as the behaviour can change in an instant and requires patience and quick reactions behind the camera.

I also had the chance to photograph a Grey Heron in flight, along with a memorable moment when it was being chased by a determined Common Tern. It was a great reminder that even much larger birds are not always left alone, and the interactions between different species can reveal some of the most interesting stories in wildlife photography.

The visit also provided some wonderful flight photography opportunities, including a Little Ringed Plover taking to the air and Mallard Ducks lifting from the water. To finish the day, a beautiful pair of Tufted Ducks provided a more peaceful moment, with both the male and female creating stunning reflections on the calm surface of the lake.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography, with every visit offering something different. Whether it’s dramatic behaviour, birds in flight, or quiet moments of natural beauty, there is always something new waiting to be discovered.
