Wren Singing in the Rain at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Every visit to Warnham Local Nature Reserve offers something different, and that's one of the reasons I never tire of returning. On the 22nd of February 2026, despite the wet weather, the reserve provided one of those simple yet unforgettable wildlife moments that reminds me why I love photographing nature.

As the rain fell gently across the reserve, I spotted a tiny Wren perched amongst the vegetation, singing with remarkable confidence. For such a small bird, its voice carried surprisingly well through the drizzle, filling the quiet morning with one of Britain's most recognisable bird songs. It was a wonderful reminder that wildlife carries on regardless of the weather, often rewarding those willing to venture out when conditions are less than perfect.

Wrens are full of character, constantly on the move and rarely staying still for long, making them both exciting and challenging to photograph. This individual paused just long enough to capture a few images before disappearing back into the undergrowth. Moments like these aren't about dramatic action or rare sightings—they're about appreciating the beauty found in everyday encounters and recognising that some of the most memorable experiences in nature come from the simplest of subjects.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be one of my favourite places to slow down, observe, and enjoy the changing seasons. Whether it's a spectacular bird of prey or a tiny Wren singing in the rain, every visit has a story waiting to be discovered.
