A Close Encounter with a Kingfisher at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
On 12 October 2025, I spent a few peaceful hours exploring Warnham Local Nature Reserve, one of my favourite places for wildlife photography here in the UK. The reserve never disappoints, but this visit delivered something particularly special.
As I waited quietly by the water, a Kingfisher appeared and began hovering just metres away from me. Encounters like this are rare enough, but to have one so close — perfectly lit, suspended above the water — was an unforgettable moment. The vibrant blues and oranges of this remarkable bird looked absolutely stunning up close, and the fine detail in its feathers was a joy to capture through the lens.
Moments like these are why I keep returning to Warnham. You never quite know what you’ll see, but when the wildlife chooses to come this close, it’s a reminder of why patience in nature photography is always worth it.
If you enjoy Kingfishers, UK wildlife, or behind-the-scenes notes from my photography sessions, stay tuned — more field stories and images coming soon.
