Capturing a Kingfisher at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

On 12th October 2025, I spent a few peaceful hours at Warnham Local Nature Reserve, one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography here in the UK. During the visit, I was lucky enough to witness – and photograph – one of Britain’s most iconic birds in action: the Kingfisher.

Watching a Kingfisher hunt is always a special moment. Their speed, precision, and bold colours make them a joy to photograph. This particular bird put on a fantastic display, diving with incredible accuracy and emerging triumphantly with a fish in its beak. It’s one of those scenes that reminds me why I love wildlife photography so much.

Below are a few of the shots I captured during the session. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed watching this vibrant little hunter at work.

If you’re ever in the area, Warnham Local Nature Reserve is a brilliant place to explore and a reliable spot for catching glimpses of these stunning birds.
