A Day at Warnham Local Nature Reserve – Capturing the Beauty of Nature
On 13th September 2025, I spent a wonderful day exploring Warnham Local Nature Reserve, and as always, the reserve did not disappoint. Every visit offers a new perspective, and this time was no exception.
The day was full of fascinating wildlife encounters. I spotted a delicate Common Blue butterfly, gracefully fluttering among the wildflowers, and a Little Grebe braving the heavy rain, a true testament to the resilience of nature. Another Little Grebe was happily enjoying its catch, offering a small but remarkable moment to capture.
The skies brought action too — a Mallard duck in flight soared across the scene, adding a dynamic contrast to the calm waters. On the lily pads, a Marsh Frog perched quietly, while vibrant Purple Coneflowers added splashes of colour to the landscape. The serene Water Lily pads floating on the dark, reflective waters created a peaceful backdrop that highlighted the beauty of these small aquatic habitats.
Visits like this are a vivid reminder of how much life thrives in the seemingly quiet corners of our local reserves. From tiny insects to birds and amphibians, each visit reveals the richness and diversity of wildlife that surrounds us, often unnoticed.
Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be a haven for both wildlife and nature enthusiasts alike, offering endless opportunities for photography, observation, and simply appreciating the small wonders of the natural world.
