A Tiny Hunter by the Pond at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Spending time at Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 6th December 2025 offered a lovely opportunity to slow down and focus on one of the reserve’s smallest but most characterful residents — the wren.

I watched as it hopped around the edge of a small pond, busy fishing for springtails among the damp ground and leaf litter. Despite its size, the wren was full of energy, constantly darting from one spot to another and rarely staying still for more than a moment. Capturing these fleeting movements was both a challenge and a pleasure.

Scenes like this are a great reminder that you don’t always need dramatic action or large subjects to have a rewarding photography session. Even the smallest wildlife moments can tell a story, and Warnham continues to provide endless opportunities to observe and appreciate these subtle, often overlooked details of nature.
