Birdlife Highlights at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always full of fascinating moments, and the 28th of September 2025 offered a truly varied and rewarding day of wildlife observation.
The coot was busy making waves as it powered across the lake, while a Grey Heron glided effortlessly overhead. Among the reeds, a Little Grebe appeared briefly before diving again, and a male Mallard showcased some stunning reflections in the calm light. Two female Mallards took to the air together, wings catching the afternoon sun, while a Mute Swan turned its head gracefully backwards in that familiar pose. A male Shoveler in eclipse plumage added a subtle splash of colour, and even a Wood Pigeon joined in, flying low above the water.
It was a peaceful afternoon with plenty of variety — just the kind of day that reminds me why Warnham Local Nature Reserve is such a special and rewarding place to visit for both birdwatching and photography.
