A Lovely Morning at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
There's nothing quite like a peaceful morning out in nature, and today at Warnham Local Nature Reserve certainly didn’t disappoint. With the crisp February air and soft golden light filtering through the trees, I spent a few hours photographing some of our wonderful resident birds—and they were more than happy to put on a show.
Here are a few highlights from today’s session:
🐦 Blue Tit – As lively as ever, flitting between branches with boundless energy. These tiny birds are a joy to watch and even more rewarding to photograph.
🐦 Chaffinch – Caught in just the right light, its vibrant plumage really stood out. Such a common bird, yet always striking when seen up close.
🐦 Common Reed Bunting – A real treat to spot. Its presence among the reeds brought a lovely touch of variety to the morning.
🐦 Goldfinch – A splash of colour and character, darting in and out of view. Their bright red faces and golden wing bars are always a welcome sight.
🐦 Greenfinch – Their green and yellow tones were glowing in the light—beautiful birds that often get overlooked.
🐦 Nuthatch – True acrobats of the woodland, climbing headfirst down branches like it’s the easiest thing in the world. Always fascinating to observe.
All in all, it was a fantastic outing with a great mix of species to enjoy. Warnham continues to be one of my favourite local spots for birdwatching and photography. If you haven’t been recently, I’d highly recommend a visit!
Let me know in the comments—which bird is your favourite from today’s list?
Until next time,
Paul
