A Day with British Wildlife – Visit to the British Wildlife Centre, Lingfield

On the 1st of March 2025, I had the pleasure of spending a full day at the British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield—a fantastic location dedicated to showcasing and conserving the UK’s native species. As a wildlife photographer, few things are more rewarding than observing and capturing the essence of Britain’s incredible fauna up close.

This visit was a brilliant opportunity to photograph some of the UK’s most iconic and elusive wildlife. From playful otters to elusive owls, each encounter offered something special.

Highlights from the Day:

  • European Otter
Watching these energetic and playful creatures glide through the water never gets old. They’re full of life and always make for fascinating subjects.

  • Grey Heron
Tall, elegant, and ever-watchful, the heron’s presence by the water was both calming and majestic.

  • Jackdaw
With its sharp, inquisitive eyes and curious nature, the jackdaw brought real personality to the day.

  • Long-Eared Owl
A real highlight! These owls are rarely seen up close, and their long ear tufts and intense gaze made for some striking images.

  • Red Squirrel
Agile, quick, and absolutely charming—these little mammals were a joy to photograph as they darted about.

  • Tawny Owl
Master of disguise, this owl was perfectly camouflaged in its surroundings. Patience paid off for a few memorable shots.

  • Wildcat
Fierce and beautiful, the wildcat was a reminder of the UK’s wilder side—a rare and powerful subject to photograph.

I’ve uploaded a full gallery of images from the day—each shot capturing a unique moment with these incredible animals. I'd love to hear which one stands out to you the most!

Until next time,
Paul
