Kingfisher Encounters at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
On 26th July 2025, I spent some time at Warnham Local Nature Reserve, one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography. It turned out to be an unforgettable visit — I was lucky enough to capture several stunning kingfishers in action as they darted across the water. 🐦💦
Every visit to Warnham reminds me just how magical British wildlife can be. The kingfisher, with its vivid blue and orange plumage, is a perfect example of nature’s beauty and energy. Watching these small, agile hunters dive for fish is always a breathtaking experience — a blend of precision, speed, and colour that never gets old.
The conditions were ideal for photography that day, with soft natural light reflecting beautifully off the water, helping to bring out the kingfisher’s rich tones. I spent hours patiently observing, waiting for that perfect moment — and it truly paid off.
Below are a few of my favourite kingfisher shots from the day. Each image captures a unique moment: a dive, a perch, a flash of colour mid-flight. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed photographing them. 📸
If you’ve never visited Warnham Local Nature Reserve, it’s a gem for anyone passionate about wildlife, nature walks, and bird photography. It’s places like this that remind me why I fell in love with wildlife photography in the first place.
