Morning Wildlife at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve offered a lovely and active morning on 9th November 2025, with plenty happening across the lake and reedbeds.

I watched a Black-headed Gull repeatedly playing with an object on the water — a surprisingly entertaining moment. Nearby, a pair of Gadwall drifted calmly on the lake, while another passed through in flight. A Great Crested Grebe powered across the water before lifting into the air, and a Little Grebe kept a low profile, quietly moving through the margins.

Two Mute Swans made a dramatic take-off across the lake, and to finish the session, a Water Rail briefly revealed itself, landing in the reeds on the far side — always a special sight. It was a really rewarding visit, with a wonderful mix of behaviour and atmosphere to enjoy and photograph.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to explore more wildlife moments from Warnham Local Nature Reserve and beyond.
