Swallows Gathering at Farlington Marshes – Speed, Precision, and Migration Moments

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Farlington Marshes is one of my favourite spots in the UK for observing birds in action, and every visit offers new opportunities to witness nature at its finest. Here’s a look at an incredible morning I spent there on the 21st of September.

I had a brilliant day at Farlington Marshes on the 21st of September, with Swallows putting on an incredible aerial display. They were out in force, darting across the sky and skimming low over the water as they chased flies with remarkable speed and precision. Watching them up close is always a special experience, especially as they gathered ahead of their autumn migration.

Their movement is so fast and unpredictable that photographing them is always a challenge, but moments like these make it worth the effort. Farlington Marshes once again delivered a perfect mix of action, atmosphere, and that unmistakable feeling that nature is shifting into the next season.

Here are a few shots from the morning, capturing their movement and grace in flight — a true test of timing, patience, and quick reflexes behind the camera.

Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this post, be sure to check out my other wildlife adventures at Farlington Marshes and beyond. Every visit brings something new, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
