Winter Feeder Activity at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Spent a wonderful morning at Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 20th December 2025, focusing on the lively activity around the feeders.

The scene was full of energy, with Blue Tits, Goldfinches, Great Tits, Greenfinches, and Long-Tailed Tits all darting about, feeding and interacting. Capturing these small, fast-moving birds in flight was a real challenge, but incredibly rewarding — each shot reveals their vibrant colours, subtle patterns, and distinctive personalities.

It’s always fascinating to watch how these birds behave up close. The way they move between perches, jostle for space, and pause just long enough to nibble at the seeds gives a wonderful insight into their character. The combination of movement, colour, and light at the feeders made for some really engaging photographs.

Mornings like this are a reminder of why Warnham is such a special place for bird photography. Even on a cold winter day, the feeders provide a dynamic window into the lives of some of the reserve’s smallest, most energetic residents.
