Banded Demoiselle at Bushy Park – A Beautiful Subject to Photograph

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! A visit to Bushy Park on 26th July 2026 provided a wonderful opportunity to spend some time exploring the park and photographing one of its smaller and more delicate inhabitants — a beautiful Banded Demoiselle.

With its striking metallic colouring, delicate wings, and distinctive appearance, the Banded Demoiselle is always an enjoyable subject to photograph. Taking the time to look closely at these smaller insects can reveal an incredible amount of detail, from the subtle colours of the body to the intricate patterns in the wings.

This was another rewarding wildlife photography session, concentrating on the smaller creatures that can easily be overlooked when walking through a busy park. Bushy Park offers plenty of opportunities to slow down, observe the wildlife around you, and discover interesting subjects in places you might otherwise walk straight past.

For me, these encounters are a reminder that wildlife photography isn't always about finding the largest or most spectacular subject. Sometimes it's simply about taking the time to notice what is happening around you and capturing the beauty of the smaller inhabitants of our parks and natural spaces.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to explore my other wildlife adventures and photography from Bushy Park and beyond. Every visit brings something new, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
