Common Terns Hunting Over the Water at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography, offering a wonderful variety of species and opportunities to capture fascinating behaviour. On 24th May 2026, I spent time photographing the beautiful Common Terns as they hunted over the water, providing an exciting display of speed, skill, and precision.

Watching Common Terns in flight is always a challenge and a rewarding experience. These elegant birds move incredibly quickly as they skim across the surface, scanning the water before diving with pinpoint accuracy to catch their prey. Capturing these moments requires patience, timing, and plenty of missed opportunities, but when everything comes together, the result makes all the effort worthwhile.

There is something special about observing these birds in their natural environment, seeing their behaviour unfold and trying to capture a small part of that action through photography. Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to provide unforgettable wildlife encounters, and every visit offers the chance to discover something new.
