Cormorant on the Water at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always a wonderful place to spend time observing wildlife, with every visit offering the chance to capture something different. On 21st March 2026, I spent some time exploring the reserve and was fortunate enough to photograph a Cormorant out on the water.

Cormorants are fascinating birds to watch, especially when they are relaxed and completely at home in their aquatic environment. Sitting low in the water, they move with a calm confidence, often appearing almost effortless as they glide across the surface. Their dark plumage, distinctive shape, and focused behaviour make them a striking subject, even during a quiet moment on the lake.

Watching this Cormorant going about its day was a reminder that wildlife photography is not always about dramatic action or rare encounters. Sometimes the simplest moments can create the most memorable images — taking the time to observe a bird behaving naturally in its own environment is what makes these experiences so rewarding.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be a special location for wildlife photography, offering a chance to slow down, observe, and appreciate the incredible variety of species that call the reserve home.
