Spring Wildlife Moments at RSPB Pulborough Brooks

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! RSPB Pulborough Brooks is a wonderful place to experience the changing seasons, and my visit on 21st March 2026 was filled with those small but memorable moments that make wildlife photography so rewarding. With early spring beginning to arrive, the reserve offered a beautiful mix of scenery, bird activity, and peaceful observation.

The morning started with a stunning layer of dew covering the grass, catching the light and creating a beautiful atmosphere across the landscape. As I explored the reserve, a Blackbird and a Pied Wagtail were busy foraging, both completely focused on searching for food. Watching these everyday behaviours up close is a reminder that even the most familiar species can provide fascinating photographic opportunities.

Looking upwards, a Buzzard drifted effortlessly overhead, making the most of the rising air currents as it searched the landscape below. Further out across the reserve, Northern Lapwings added their distinctive presence, bringing their own character and charm to the open fields.

One of the quieter highlights of the day came while I stopped for a coffee. A Robin and a Sparrow appeared nearby, providing some lovely company during a peaceful moment at the reserve. These simple encounters are often some of the most enjoyable — small glimpses into the everyday lives of the wildlife around us.

It was a visit full of variety, from the early spring light and dew-covered grass to the birds actively preparing for the season ahead. Days like this perfectly capture why places such as RSPB Pulborough Brooks are so special, offering endless opportunities to slow down, observe nature, and appreciate the moments that unfold.
