Green Woodpecker in Flight at Bushy Park – A First Visit Highlight
Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! A first visit to Bushy Park on 19th July 2026 proved to be a fantastic experience, with the park offering a wonderful mix of habitats and wildlife. One of the highlights of the visit was encountering a Green Woodpecker feeding amongst the dry summer grass, providing a perfect opportunity to observe and photograph this beautiful bird in its natural surroundings.
Watching the Green Woodpecker as it searched through the grass for food was fascinating. Its careful movements and distinctive behaviour gave me plenty of opportunities to capture some natural moments before it suddenly took to the air. Photographing a Green Woodpecker in flight is always a challenge, but this encounter was made even more special by the warm golden tones of the dry summer grass below and the clean natural background behind the bird.
Moments like this are what make wildlife photography so rewarding — being in the right place at the right time and being able to capture a brief glimpse of natural behaviour. Bushy Park certainly made a great first impression, and it was exciting to discover another location with such a variety of wildlife and photographic opportunities.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to explore my other wildlife adventures and photography from locations across the UK. Every visit brings new discoveries, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
