Juvenile Green Woodpecker in Flight at Bushy Park – A First Visit
Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Every new location brings the excitement of discovering different habitats, species, and photographic opportunities. My first visit to Bushy Park on 19th July 2026 proved to be a fantastic experience, with plenty of potential for future wildlife encounters.
One of the highlights of the day was photographing a juvenile Green Woodpecker in flight as it moved through the trees. These colourful birds are always a challenge to capture, especially when they take off with their fast, undulating flight pattern and tend to stay low over the ground. Tracking their movement and getting the timing right takes patience, quick reactions, and a little bit of luck.
Managing to capture a sharp image of this striking bird in flight was a particularly rewarding moment. Seeing the vibrant colours of a Green Woodpecker against the natural surroundings of Bushy Park made the effort worthwhile and provided a memorable first impression of this impressive location.
This visit has certainly left me wanting to return and explore more of what Bushy Park has to offer. With its mix of woodland, open spaces, and diverse wildlife, it looks like it could become a great location for future photography adventures.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to explore my other wildlife adventures and photography from locations across the UK. Every visit brings something new, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
