Little Egrets at Warnham Local Nature Reserve – Flight and Fishing
Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! A visit to Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 26th July 2026 provided a great opportunity to spend some time photographing Little Egrets. These elegant little herons are always enjoyable to watch, particularly when they are actively feeding and moving around the reserve.
During the visit, I managed to capture the Little Egrets in two very different situations — both in flight and while fishing. Watching them hunt in the shallows was particularly interesting, as they moved carefully through the water before striking with surprising speed and precision. Their delicate appearance can be misleading, as they are very capable hunters when the opportunity arises.
Capturing them in flight provided a completely different photographic challenge. Seeing the birds take to the air and move across the reserve offered some great opportunities to photograph their graceful movement, contrasting nicely with the more concentrated moments spent fishing.
Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to provide plenty of opportunities for wildlife photography, and days with this much activity are always rewarding. The Little Egrets provided plenty of action throughout the visit and made this another enjoyable session at one of my favourite local locations.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to explore my other wildlife adventures and photography from Warnham Local Nature Reserve and beyond. Every visit brings something new, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
