Marsh Frogs at Warnham Local Nature Reserve – A Springtime Display Around the Pond

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is a place where even the quieter moments can reveal fascinating wildlife behaviour. On 25th April 2026, I spent some time exploring the reserve and was treated to a fantastic display from the Marsh Frogs around one of the ponds.

The air was filled with their distinctive croaking as frogs called to each other from across the water, creating a wonderful soundtrack to the spring morning. Every so often, the peaceful chorus would suddenly burst into activity, with frogs chasing each other around the pond in quick bursts of movement before disappearing back into the surrounding vegetation.

Watching this behaviour unfold was fascinating, and it was a great opportunity to capture a side of wildlife photography that is often overlooked. Rather than focusing on dramatic action or rare sightings, moments like these show the importance of taking time to slow down and observe the smaller details of nature. Seeing how active the Marsh Frogs were in the warmer spring weather was a real reminder of the incredible amount of life that can be found around the reserve’s ponds.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be one of my favourite places to visit, with every trip offering the chance to discover something new. Whether it’s birds, insects, mammals, or amphibians, the reserve always rewards those who take the time to stop, watch, and listen.
