Marsh Frogs Calling and Chasing at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is a place where even a quiet walk can reveal fascinating wildlife behaviour, and on 26th April 2026, I spent some time around one of the reserve’s ponds enjoying a fantastic display from the resident Marsh Frogs.

The air was filled with their distinctive croaking as the frogs called to each other from across the water, creating a wonderful spring soundtrack around the pond. Every so often, the peaceful chorus would suddenly burst into action as frogs chased each other through the water in short bursts of speed before disappearing back into the surrounding vegetation.

It was fascinating to watch and photograph this behaviour, especially as the warmer spring weather brought increased activity. These moments offer a great reminder that some of the most interesting wildlife encounters can happen in familiar places, simply by slowing down, taking the time to observe, and listening to what is happening around you.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to provide incredible opportunities for wildlife photography, with every visit offering the chance to discover something new. This was another memorable encounter and a great example of the amazing variety of life that can be found around the reserve’s ponds.
