Spring Wildlife Highlights at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always a wonderful place to visit, but there is something especially enjoyable about being there as spring begins to unfold. My visit on 11th April 2026 showed plenty of signs that the season was well underway, with the reserve coming alive with colour, movement, and new activity.

The landscape was looking beautiful, with Bluebells beginning to flower and Bullrushes adding texture and character around the water’s edge. These seasonal changes provide a perfect backdrop for wildlife photography, as the reserve transforms after the quieter months of winter.

There was plenty of wildlife to enjoy throughout the day, including an Egyptian Goose and a male Mallard Duck captured in flight. A fast-moving Swallow overhead was another highlight, bringing the excitement of returning summer visitors and reminding me that migration was beginning to gather pace. On the ground, a colourful male Pheasant provided a fantastic photographic opportunity, while a Marsh Frog offered a wonderful amphibian encounter and added even more variety to the visit.

Days like this are a great reminder of why Warnham Local Nature Reserve is such a rewarding location for wildlife photography. The combination of birds, plants, and other wildlife makes every visit different, with something new to discover throughout the seasons.
