Spring Wildlife Highlights at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is a place that always rewards patience, with every visit bringing new opportunities to capture seasonal changes and fascinating wildlife behaviour. On 25th April 2026, I spent time exploring the reserve and enjoying the variety of spring activity taking place across the different habitats.

The day provided some fantastic opportunities with both butterflies and birds. A Brimstone and a Green-veined White briefly settled on a dandelion, offering the perfect chance to capture their delicate beauty against the spring backdrop. These early-season butterfly encounters are always special, as they mark the return of warmer days and increased activity throughout the reserve.

The birdlife was equally rewarding, with a Grey Heron providing a memorable moment as it flew across the reserve, including one image where it passed by with its beak open. I also managed to photograph a Large Red Damselfly and a Reed Warbler moving through the reeds, adding even more variety to the morning’s sightings.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography, as the changing seasons, weather, and light conditions always create something different to discover. This visit was another reminder that even familiar places can provide new and exciting photographic opportunities.
