A Day at Hayling Island Oyster Beds – Birdwatching Highlights

On 20/09/2025, I spent the day exploring the beautiful Hayling Island oyster beds, a location well-known for its rich coastal wildlife. Despite the cloudy skies, the area was alive with activity, offering some fantastic birdwatching opportunities throughout the visit.

The shoreline delivered a wonderful mix of waders, including Dunlin, Grey Plover, Oystercatcher, and Ruddy Turnstone, all busy feeding along the tide line. A Sandwich Tern put on a great display as it dived for fish, providing one of the highlights of the day.

Away from the water, I managed to capture a Robin singing proudly from its perch, and a Stonechat positioned high on a plant, keeping a watchful eye over the landscape. Moments like these show just how diverse this spot can be, even within a single visit.

Hayling Island continues to prove itself as one of the UK’s most rewarding coastal photography and birdwatching locations, offering incredible species variety no matter the weather.
