Winter Birds in Flight at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
A visit to Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 6th December 2025 was spent focusing on birds in flight, with constant movement around the reserve keeping me alert throughout the session.
Blue tits, goldfinches, greenfinches, and great tits were all busy darting through the air, rarely slowing down and constantly changing direction. Photographing these small birds in flight really highlights just how fast and agile they are, with each image capturing only a fraction of a second of movement.
It was a cold day, but a rewarding one. Freezing those split-second moments as the birds passed through the frame made the time and patience worthwhile, and it was satisfying to come away with a selection of images that reflect the energy of the morning.
Warnham continues to offer variety even in winter, and sessions like this are a reminder that there’s always something happening if you take the time to watch closely.
