Winter Wildlife Highlights at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
I spent some time at Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 7th December 2025 and was lucky enough to catch a great variety of birds in action across the reserve.
A vibrant bullfinch provided a real splash of colour among the branches, while a lively chaffinch flitted between perches, rarely staying still for long. A striking Great Spotted Woodpecker made a brief but memorable appearance as it moved through the trees, always impressive to watch up close.
Around the water, mallards enjoyed the calmer conditions, going about their day with ease, while a busy nuthatch darted along tree trunks, constantly on the move. To round off the visit, a proud pheasant wandered through the reserve, offering a more grounded and quietly confident presence.
Visits like this are a reminder of just how much variety Warnham has to offer, especially during the winter months. Taking the time to observe reveals countless moments of behaviour and character, making every trip feel rewarding.
