Chiffchaffs Among the Spring Blossom at RSPB Pulborough Brooks

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! RSPB Pulborough Brooks is a wonderful place to experience the changing seasons, and my visit on 28th March 2026 showed that spring was beginning to make its presence felt across the reserve. With fresh growth appearing and the landscape starting to come alive again, it was the perfect time to spend a morning watching the first signs of the new season.

The highlight of the visit was the Chiffchaffs, which were full of energy as they moved through the brambles and hawthorn blossom. These small warblers are always a welcome sight after their return from migration, and there is something special about seeing them arrive and immediately begin exploring the fresh growth around them. Their constant calling as they move through the vegetation is one of those sounds that truly marks the arrival of spring.

The fresh white blossom and the early green of the hedgerows provided a beautiful natural backdrop, creating the perfect setting for photography. Watching these little birds moving through the branches, surrounded by the signs of a changing season, was a reminder of how much detail and beauty can be found in these early spring moments.

It was a simple but incredibly rewarding morning, with good light, active birds, and that unmistakable feeling that the year’s wildlife cycle was beginning again. Visits like this are a great reminder of why places such as RSPB Pulborough Brooks are so special — every season brings something new to discover.
