Chiffchaffs Welcoming Spring at RSPB Pulborough Brooks

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! RSPB Pulborough Brooks is a fantastic place to experience the changing seasons, and my visit on 29th March 2026 brought the first real signs that spring was beginning to arrive. After the quieter months of winter, the reserve was starting to come alive again, with birdsong filling the air and returning migrants adding new energy to the landscape.

The Chiffchaffs were one of the highlights of the morning, singing loudly as they moved restlessly through the trees and hedgerows. Their constant flicking movements, quick calls, and active feeding behaviour made them a real challenge to photograph, but watching them was a wonderful reminder that spring was underway. These small warblers may be difficult to capture, but their arrival is always a welcome moment in the wildlife calendar.

With great light and plenty of natural activity around the reserve, it was a simple but rewarding photography session. Sometimes the most enjoyable visits are not about finding rare species, but about taking time to observe familiar birds, appreciate their behaviour, and enjoy the changing rhythm of nature.
