Common Whitethroat Among the Spring Growth at Pulborough Brooks

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Spring is one of my favourite times of year to visit Pulborough Brooks, as the reserve comes alive with birdsong, fresh greenery, and returning migrant species. My visit on the 18th of April 2026 was no exception, providing plenty of opportunities to enjoy the changing season.

One of the highlights of the day was photographing a Common Whitethroat amongst the lush spring vegetation surrounding the reserve. These energetic little warblers are always fascinating to watch as they move rapidly through hedgerows and bushes in search of insects. Their constant activity makes them a challenging subject for wildlife photography, but every so often they pause just long enough to offer the perfect opportunity for a photograph.

As I continued exploring Pulborough Brooks, the reserve was full of bird activity, with the sounds of spring filling the air and wildlife around almost every corner. Visits like these are a reminder of why this reserve is such a rewarding destination throughout the year, especially during the breeding season when many species are at their most active and visible.

Spending time surrounded by nature with a camera in hand is always time well spent, and this visit produced another collection of memorable images and wildlife encounters. Every trip to Pulborough Brooks has something different to offer, making it a place I always look forward to returning to.
