Gadwalls in Flight at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always a rewarding place to spend time with nature, offering a peaceful setting and plenty of opportunities to observe wildlife behaviour. On 10th May 2026, I spent some time exploring the reserve and was fortunate enough to capture Gadwalls in flight.

Watching these elegant ducks move across the reserve was a wonderful experience. Their smooth, powerful wingbeats carried them gracefully over the water and reed beds, creating those special moments that are always worth waiting for. Photographing birds in motion is always a challenge, but capturing the combination of movement, timing, and the natural surroundings makes the effort incredibly rewarding.

Gadwalls are often overlooked compared to some of the more colourful duck species, but their subtle beauty and calm presence make them fascinating subjects to photograph. Seeing them flying through the peaceful surroundings of Warnham Local Nature Reserve was a great reminder of the variety of wildlife that can be found close to home.

A simple but rewarding session observing and photographing wildlife in motion — another memorable visit to one of my favourite local nature reserves.
