Harbour Seal at Pagham Harbour – A Memorable Coastal Encounter

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Every visit to Pagham Harbour offers something different, making it one of the South Coast's most rewarding destinations for wildlife photography. While the harbour is best known for its incredible birdlife, my visit on 6th April 2026 provided an equally memorable encounter with one of Britain's most charismatic marine mammals.

During my visit, I was thrilled to spot and photograph a Harbour Seal resting peacefully along the shoreline. It was fascinating to watch this beautiful animal relaxing between dives, occasionally lifting its head to survey its surroundings before settling back down. With its expressive eyes, distinctive spotted coat, and calm nature, the Harbour Seal is always a special subject to observe and photograph.

Wildlife encounters like this are often the result of spending time quietly watching and allowing nature to unfold at its own pace. Although seals are regular visitors to the harbour, every sighting feels unique, and having the opportunity to capture one through the camera lens is always a rewarding experience. These moments serve as a reminder that some of the best wildlife photography comes when you least expect it.

Pagham Harbour continues to impress with its incredible diversity of wildlife throughout the year. From migratory birds and waders to marine mammals like the Harbour Seal, every visit offers the chance to experience something different. It's this variety that keeps drawing me back, camera in hand, eager to discover what the next visit will bring.
