Kingfisher in Flight at Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is always a rewarding place to spend time with wildlife, and my visit on 26th July 2026 provided a great opportunity to photograph one of the reserve’s most colourful birds.

I spent some time photographing a Kingfisher in flight, which is always a challenging subject to capture. Their speed and agility make it difficult to keep them in the frame, particularly when they are flying away from you. On this occasion, however, the Kingfisher gave me a wonderful opportunity to capture the beautiful colours and intricate patterns across its wings.

Even from behind, the vivid blue plumage really stands out, while the fine detail in the wing feathers adds another level of interest to the image. It’s a good reminder that wildlife photography isn’t always about capturing a bird from the perfect angle — sometimes an unexpected view can reveal details that might otherwise be missed.

It was another lovely moment from an enjoyable visit to Warnham Local Nature Reserve, and another example of why spending time watching and photographing wildlife can produce unexpected photographic opportunities.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to explore my other wildlife adventures and photography from Warnham Local Nature Reserve and beyond. Every visit brings something new, and I look forward to sharing more moments from the field soon.
