Wildlife Highlights at Warnham Local Nature Reserve – Spring 2026 Visit

Welcome to my wildlife photography journal! Warnham Local Nature Reserve is one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography, and every visit brings new opportunities to capture the incredible variety of species that call this special place home. My visit on 24th May 2026 was no exception, with plenty of activity throughout the day and a fantastic mix of wildlife encounters.

One of the highlights of the visit was watching a stunning Broad-Bodied Chaser as it laid eggs. These beautiful dragonflies are always a joy to photograph, and witnessing this important part of their life cycle was a memorable moment. Along the water’s edge, a juvenile Coot was busy exploring its surroundings, while a Jackdaw watched over the area from above, adding another interesting encounter to the day.

The visit also provided some excellent opportunities to photograph birds in flight. A Little Ringed Plover and a Mallard Duck both offered great chances to capture their movement and behaviour, but one of my favourite moments came when a Moorhen made a dramatic landing on the water. The splash and energy of the moment created a fantastic action sequence and showed just how much character these often-overlooked birds can have.

To finish the day, I also managed to capture a Wood Pigeon in flight, adding another species to a varied collection of wildlife photographs from the reserve. Days like this are a great reminder that you never know what opportunities will appear when spending time in nature.

Warnham Local Nature Reserve continues to be one of my favourite places to visit, offering a wonderful mix of habitats and wildlife throughout the seasons. Every trip brings something different, and I always look forward to seeing what new photographic opportunities await.
